Trish's Wish Mission

Trish's Wish provides support and financial assistance, to families residing in Kawartha Lakes, that are in crisis as a result of a serious illness or injury to a family member who is between the ages of 17 and 25.  Our mission is to actively seek the support and participation of the community in all our activities and to treat recipients and their families with respect and dignity, while recognizing their rights to privacy and confidentiality.

How We Started

ImageIn 2004, community members from Little Britain and surrounding areas organized a 12-kilometer Walk-A-Thon to raise funds for a young lady from Little Britain, Trish Peter. Trish had been fighting cancer since March 2000, and sadly lost that battle on July 30th, 2004.

Thanks to all the support from local businesses, family and friends who walked in support of this cause, the fundraiser was very successful. It was Trish's wish that this event should carry on in future years to help others in a similar position.

What We Do

In 2005 Trish's mom, Debbie Boden, and a group of her friends from Little Britain and Lindsay got together to form an organization "Trish's Wish," making Trish Peter's wish a reality.

ImageToday, thanks to volunteer support and fundraising efforts, 28 families have been given $200,000 since 2004. Support ranges from wheelchairs, modified beds and assistance equipment to medications and procedures that aren't covered by health insurance. Financial support is also available for families to cover hospital expenses, parking, food and other costs incurred from traveling for medical treatment.

Trish's Wish Foundation is a non-profit organization registered with the charities division of the Canada Revenue Income Tax Act effective August 21, 2006.
